vmLive – Understanding and Implementing Oracle Licensing on VMware SDDC
Monday April 22,2019, 9:30am PST
Throughout the course of the last decade, VMware virtualization has become the preferred platform for hundreds of thousands of customers, many of them running their Business Critical Applications on the virtualized infrastructure. At the center of many of these BCA environments is the Oracle Database Management System. Unfortunately, it is often the case, that significant confusion regarding how to properly license Oracle software in those VMware environments dominates the discussion distracting from what should be the main focus of the proposition. That is, the tremendous value of combining the world’s premier RDBMS with the world’s premier virtualization platform.
VMware is committed to customers who are interested in running Oracle on vSphere and correctly licensing Oracle Software on virtual infrastructure. This session will explain the intricacies of Oracle licensing along with knowledge of how to properly adhere to existing contracts and to correctly license virtualized infrastructure for Oracle workloads on VMware platform which includes VMware vSphere, VMware vSAN and VMware Cloud on AWS

Oracle Database on VMware Hyperconverged Infrastructure with vSAN 6.7
Thursday, November 29, 2018 , 10 am PST
Customers deploying Oracle Database have requirements such as stringent SLAs, consistent performance, and high availability. Common issues in using traditional storage solutions for business-critical applications include inability to easily scale-up and scale-out, storage inefficiency, complex management, high deployment, and operating costs.
Attend this webinar to hear how VMware’s Hyperconverged Infrastructure solution, based on vSAN and vSphere, helps customers design and implement optimal configurations specifically for Oracle Database. Learn about the latest capabilities which enable improved Oracle workload performance, scalability, and resynchronization performance on all-flash vSAN 6.7.
VMware vSpeaking Podcast Episode 72: Customer POCS – Oracle RAC on VMware vSAN
March 02, 2018
A Proof of Concept (or POC) project is a common approach used by companies to assess the viability of a software product for solving a particular business need. So what does it take to conduct a successful POC? This week on the Virtually Speaking Podcast we bring in Dave Morera and Sudhir Balasubramanian to walk us through this process and share details of a recent POC using Oracle RAC on vSAN

Consolidating Mixed-Workloads with VMware and EMC XtremIO All-Flash Storage
Wednesday, Jan 13, 2016 9-10am PST
No rest for the weary- you’ve succeeded with broad virtualization initiatives, but the business wants more. Whether it’s consolidating multiple business-critical workloads or building agile Private Cloud, it’s getting harder. And your infrastructure remains the bottleneck for SLAs, costs, and your ops and process agility. Neither hybrid flash storage nor scale-up flash architectures can deliver these massive consolidations, so your environment is too darned complex, unwieldy, unpredictable, and expensive.
Come learn about the new infrastructure best practices with scale-out all-flash arrays, in-memory cloning operations, and inline data services that have transformed many of your peers. Point and shoot all your workloads on to a consolidated scale-out platform to meet all SLAs with incredible operational, storage efficiency, and bullet-proof consistent latency and IOPS. No more performance tuning. Instant in-memory VM cloning and app copy services with no capacity impact. Radically simple VM administration at scale for all workloads and SLAs. We’ll discuss these new capabilities with customer examples, including:
• What does it take to enable massive mixed workload consolidation for multiple tier 1 workloads
• How smart, efficient VM cloning services can uncomplicate VM administration
• How you can provision 1000s of VMs instantly with no SLA risk and no infrastructure impact
• Why the hypervisor integrations matter for large-scale virtual environments
